چکیده

3D whole body, electro-optical scanners have facilitated the creation of personalised, realistic human models. However, realism comes at the cost of a large number of polygons that may surpass the time/accuracy requirement set for rendering/computation in a variety of application systems. We present new automatic constraints that approximate the symmetry of human body parts. These feature constraints help ensure that the overall shape and dimension of body parts are retained even at very low polygon counts. In comparison with established simplification algorithms they reduce the geometric error of the model at the lower level of detail range. The constraints also ensure a mesh structure that improves the rendering quality of the model at low complexity representations.

Creating light-weight virtual humans for Virtual Environments

With the advent of whole body, 3D electro-optical scanners, a new range of applications are emerging that exploit the availability of personalised, realistic human models. However, realistic rendering of such models usually entails a large number of polygons which can be unacceptable in many applications. We present a framework that exploits the approximate cylindrical and spherical symmetry of...

Weight-Perception-Based Novel Control of a Power-Assist Robot for the Cooperative Lifting of Light-Weight Objects

We developed a 1‐DOF power assist robot system for lifting objects by two humans cooperatively. We hypothesized that weight perception due to inertia might be different from that due to gravity when lifting an object with power‐assist because the perceived weight differs from the actual weight. The system was simulated and two humans cooperatively lifted objects with ...

Performance Comparison between Light Weight Virtualization Using Docker and Heavy Weight Virtualization

These days everything is shifting to cloud computing. Two of the major types of clouds are infrastructure as a service (IAAS) & Platform as a service (PAAS) cloud. Network engineers and administrators make use of IAAS instead of physical hardware for implementing servers. Software Developers use PAAS for programming purposes. Virtualization is the main base for implementing cloud computing. The...

Partitionable Light-Weight Groups

Group communication, providing virtual synchrony semantics, is a powerful paradigm for building distributed applications. For applications that require a large number of groups, signi cant performance gains can be attained if these groups share the resources required to provide virtual synchrony. A service that maps multiple user groups onto a small number of instances of a virtually synchronou...

A Dynamic Light-Weight Group Service

The virtual synchrony model for group communication has proven to be a powerful paradigm for building distributed applications. Implementations of virtual synchrony usually require the use of failure detectors and failure recovery protocols. In applications that require the use of a large number of groups, signi cant performance gains can be attained if these groups share the resources required...
